SKELETON LAKE: A few years ago, I received a call from a Toronto couple who had told me they just bought shoreline property in Muskoka. They wanted a cottage, and didn't know what to do next. We met a couple of days later, at the property, and discovered they did indeed buy property. No driveway, a perfect building site several thousand feet from the road, and about 170 vertical feet from the waters edge.

The first thing they wanted... no, not a driveway, not a cottage, not even a dock. They wanted a way to the lake.

Not long after the first encounter with our new clients, we started a set of stairs, and landings that would get them from the proposed cottage site, down to the crystal waters of Skeleton lake. Six lifts of timber, two lifts of cedar plank, pounds and pounds of spikes, and a few weeks later, they had a 232 step staircase that would get them to their treasure chest. The driveway, a cottage, a dock, (steel installed by helicopter), and a two storey boat house, all followed after.

We still service the property today, and the best development that took place, was the friendship.
